The airline has postponed the superjumbo’s comeback to Perth Airport (PER) in Australia and Václav Havel Airport Prague (PRG) in the Czech Republic as operational pressures continue to impact Gulf carriers.

The latest schedule update shows that Emirates has removed additional Airbus A380 operations from its May and June timetables.

The airline had originally planned to restore daily A380 flights to both Perth and Prague from June 1, but the revised schedule now pushes the return date to July 1. The changes come as airlines continue adjusting operations following disruptions linked to the regional conflict involving Iran.

Photo: Emirates

Emirates A380 Cuts on These Routes

Emirates has significantly reduced Airbus A380 operations across its network in recent months. According to updated scheduling data, the carrier has now removed another portion of planned A380 flights during May and June, extending reductions already implemented earlier this year.

The airline last operated the Airbus A380 between Dubai and Perth on March 14. Since then, Emirates has primarily used the Airbus A350-900 on the route, while Boeing 777-200ER and Boeing 777-300ER aircraft have also appeared on select services.

The decision allows Emirates to reduce capacity on the long-haul Australian route while maintaining operational flexibility. Lower seat availability can help airlines manage demand more efficiently during periods of geopolitical uncertainty and fluctuating travel patterns.

Under the revised schedule, Emirates will resume Airbus A380 operations between Dubai and Perth on July 1 instead of June 1.

The route will continue using the airline’s four-class, 468-seat Airbus A380 configuration, which includes first class suites, premium economy, business class, and economy seating.

The updated July schedule for the Perth service is as follows:

Frequency

DXB to PER

PER to DXB

Daily

2:45 AM – 5:35 PM

10:20 PM – 5:15 AM (+1)

The Airbus A380 remains a flagship aircraft for Emirates and plays a major role on high-demand long-haul routes. However, the airline has increasingly adjusted deployment of the type as operational conditions evolve across the Middle East.

Photo: Clément Alloing

Emirates’ Return to Prague Using the A380 Delayed

Prague has faced a similar situation. Emirates last deployed the Airbus A380 to Prague on March 23 before replacing the aircraft with Boeing 777-300ER operations.

The route has mainly seen the airline’s 360-seat Boeing 777 configuration in recent weeks, although the smaller 332-seat version is also expected to operate. Both aircraft variants feature first-class cabins, while the 332-seat configuration additionally includes premium economy seating.

Emirates had intended to bring back Airbus A380 flights to Prague from June 1, Simple Flying flagged. However, the latest update now shows that the superjumbo will not return until July 1.

The airline plans to use its newest three-class Airbus A380 layout on the Prague route. This version accommodates 569 passengers, including:

76 business class seats

56 premium economy seats

437 economy seats.

The aircraft represents Emirates’ latest high-density configuration strategy for busy international markets.

Under the updated schedule, flight EK139 will depart Dubai at 8:35 AM and arrive in Prague at 1:00 PM local time. The return service, EK140, will leave Prague at 4:10 PM and land back in Dubai at 11:55 PM.

The schedule has been designed to maximize onward connectivity through Dubai, particularly for travelers connecting between Europe and Asia-Pacific destinations.

Emirates also benefits from additional support on the Prague market through its partnership with flydubai, which continues operating daily services to the Czech capital.

During the upcoming winter season, flydubai plans to increase Prague operations to 10 weekly flights. The added frequency will further strengthen connectivity between Central Europe and destinations across Asia, Africa, and Australia through Dubai.

Photo: Cado Photo

Emirates’ Wider Network Changes

The latest Emirates schedule revisions extend beyond Perth and Prague. Several international airports are experiencing major reductions in Airbus A380 operations during May and June as the airline reshapes capacity deployment.

One notable example involves Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) in the United States. Emirates had initially planned to restart daily Airbus A380 flights to Washington from May 16. The revised timetable now shows the service returning on June 1 instead.

At least 14 airports worldwide are currently scheduled to receive between 25% and 100% fewer Airbus A380 flights compared to earlier projections.

The changes highlight how airlines continue responding to operational and geopolitical pressures impacting long-haul international travel.

Despite the widespread reductions, Beijing remains an exception. Emirates recently restored Airbus A380 operations to the Chinese capital after a long absence dating back to 2023.

The airline has now extended planned A380 operations on the route through the end of May, making Beijing one of the few destinations seeing increased superjumbo activity.

While Emirates continues adjusting its schedules, further revisions remain possible.

Airlines globally are monitoring regional developments closely, and operational planning continues to evolve based on fuel costs, passenger demand, airspace availability, and security considerations.

Stay tuned with us.
