EVERETT-<\/strong> Boeing<\/a> has rolled out the first Boeing 777-8F freighter from its Everett (PAE) production facility, marking a significant milestone for the long-delayed 777X program. The aircraft exited the final assembly hangar on Thursday, April 23, 2026, and will now transition to pre-flight preparations, including engine integration and ground testing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Qatar Airways (QR)<\/a>, based in Doha (DOH), is set to become the launch operator of the 777-8F with an order for 34 aircraft. Other major customers include Cargolux (CV), Lufthansa Cargo (LH), and ANA All Nippon Airways (NH)<\/a>, all awaiting deliveries of the next-generation freighter expected to enter commercial service by 2028 or 2029.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Boeing 777-8F Rollouts of the Factory<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The 777-8F rollout represents the first completed 777X freighter<\/a> to exit Boeing’s assembly line. The aircraft will now undergo a series of critical pre-flight milestones before it can take to the skies. These steps include installation of the GE9X engines, comprehensive ground testing of all systems, and eventually, the maiden test flight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Boeing first began production of the 777-8F in July 2024. While the rollout took nearly a year from initial production and over a decade since the 777X family was officially launched in 2013, it signals tangible progress for a program that has faced persistent certification and testing delays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The broader 777X program saw its first variant, the 777-9 passenger aircraft, complete its maiden flight in January 2020. However, repeated setbacks have pushed the 777-9’s planned commercial delivery to 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
