MARRAKECH, MOROCCO-<\/strong> easyJet (U2)<\/a> has officially opened its new permanent base at Marrakech Menara Airport (RAK), stationing three aircraft at the Moroccan gateway. The base launch marks a major expansion milestone as the airline celebrates 20 years of operations in Morocco and 20 million passengers carried across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

easyJet CEO Kenton Jarvis, Moroccan National Tourist Office (MNTO) Director Achraf Fayda, and National Airports Office (ONDA) Director Adel El Fakir attended the launch event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alongside the base opening, easyJet (U2) announced six new routes to Morocco for Winter 2026. Prague (PRG), Newcastle (NCL), and Zurich (ZRH) to Marrakech (RAK) are now on sale, while Nantes (NTE) to Essaouira (ESU), Bordeaux (BOD) to Agadir (AGA), and Birmingham (BHX) to Agadir (AGA) will go on sale later this spring. The airline’s total Morocco network now stands at 58 routes, including 30 to Marrakech (RAK).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

easyJet Strengthens Morocco Presence<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Marrakech base is the result of a long-term partnership between easyJet and the Moroccan National Tourist Office, signed in autumn 2025. The agreement enabled the airline to commit three aircraft permanently at RAK, offering a record 4 million seats in the base’s first year of operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new base has created 100 direct jobs and thousands of indirect positions<\/strong> in the region. It cements easyJet’s position as the second largest airline in Marrakech and the third largest in Morocco overall. The carrier also holds the title of the largest airline operating to Morocco from both the United Kingdom and Switzerland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kenton Jarvis, CEO of easyJet<\/strong>, stated that the base launch reflects the airline’s deepening commitment to Morocco after two decades of operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He highlighted the growth in travel opportunities for both airline and holiday customers and pointed to the positive economic impact through tourism and local job creation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Six New Winter Routes Announced for Morocco<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

easyJet confirmed three new winter routes to Marrakech that are now available for booking. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prague (PRG) to Marrakech (RAK) launches on 25 October 2026 with two weekly flights on Wednesday and Sunday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Newcastle (NCL) to Marrakech (RAK) begins on 3 November 2026, operating twice a week on Tuesday and Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zurich (ZRH) to Marrakech (RAK) starts on 28 October 2026 with Wednesday and Saturday departures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Three additional routes will go on sale later this spring. Nantes (NTE) to Essaouira (ESU), Bordeaux (BOD) to Agadir (AGA), and Birmingham (BHX) to Agadir (AGA) will open for bookings ahead of the Winter 2026 season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Specific launch dates and schedules for these routes have not yet been confirmed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Existing Routes Extended to Year-Round Service<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Several seasonal routes connecting European cities to Marrakech will now operate throughout the year. Hamburg (HAM) to Marrakech (RAK) launches on 1 May 2026 with two weekly flights on Tuesday and Friday. The route will continue into the winter season with the same twice-weekly frequency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lille (LIL) to Marrakech (RAK) starts operations on 3 May 2026, flying twice a week on Wednesday and Sunday. Strasbourg (SXB) to Marrakech (RAK) also begins on 3 May 2026 with two weekly flights on Thursday and Sunday. Both routes will now run year-round instead of operating only during peak seasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, a new Geneva (GVA) to Tangier (TNG) route launches on 30 March 2026, operating twice a week on Monday and Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

easyJet Holidays Expands Morocco Offerings<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The airline’s growth in Morocco directly benefits easyJet holidays, as the country remains one of the fastest-growing markets for package holidays. In Marrakech alone, easyJet holidays offers more than 70 hotels ranging from three to five stars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The carrier launched its “Luxury Collection” in October 2025 in the United Kingdom, featuring a selection of hand-picked premium hotels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first customers under this new luxury tier began travelling in April 2026, with Marrakech among the key destinations in the portfolio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

easyJet launched Morocco operations in 2006 and has steadily expanded its footprint over the past 20 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline currently operates 47 routes across five Moroccan airports<\/strong>: Marrakech (RAK), Agadir (AGA), Rabat (RBA), Essaouira (ESU), and Tangier (TNG). With the six new routes announced, the total Morocco network will grow to 58 routes by Winter 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
