CHICAGO-<\/strong> United Airlines (UA)<\/a> CEO Scott Kirby proposed a merger with American Airlines (AA)<\/a> during a meeting with US President Donald Trump at the White House in late February 2026. Bloomberg<\/a> first reported the story on April 13, 2026, and Reuters confirmed it through two independent sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The proposed combination of United Airlines (UA) and American Airlines (AA) would create the largest airline in the world by available seat capacity, controlling roughly 30% of all US domestic traffic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
