NOIDA-<\/strong> Prime Minister Narendra Modi<\/strong> will inaugurate Noida International Airport, Greater Noida (DXN)<\/a>, on March 28, 2026, marking a major milestone for India\u2019s aviation network. IndiGo (6E) will be the launch airline, with Akasa Air (QP) and Air India Express (IX) also planning operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airport has secured key approvals from BCAS and DGCA, clearing the path for commercial services. The project is designed to expand regional connectivity and ease congestion at Delhi\u2019s Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi (DEL), BusinessLine<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Noida International Airport Inauguration on March 28<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Noida International Airport has completed critical regulatory steps required for operations. The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security has granted security clearance for domestic passenger services and cargo operations. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA)<\/a> has issued the aerodrome licence, confirming compliance with safety, infrastructure, and operational standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The final requirement before full-scale operations is the approval of the Aerodrome Security Programme. Once approved, the airport will be ready to handle scheduled commercial flights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A validation flight was conducted in December 2024 by IndiGo<\/a> using an Airbus A320. The exercise tested approach procedures, navigation systems, and air traffic control readiness, confirming operational preparedness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Airlines are actively finalising routes, slots, and network strategies. IndiGo will begin operations as the launch carrier. Akasa Air<\/a> plans to operate both domestic and international routes, while Air India Express is expected to join the network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Discussions are ongoing with other Indian carriers and international airlines from the Middle East and Southeast Asia. These partnerships aim to position the airport as a key gateway for both passenger and cargo traffic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Infrastructure and Passenger Facilities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

All major infrastructure components are now in place. Concessions have been awarded for ground handling, fuel services, cargo operations, retail, and food services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Navigation and communication systems have been deployed by the Airports Authority of India (AAI).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airport\u2019s first phase includes one runway and one terminal with an annual capacity of 12 million passengers. Future expansion across four phases will increase capacity to 70 million passengers<\/strong> per year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Connectivity and Transport Integration<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Authorities are developing multiple transport options to ensure smooth access. These include intercity buses, long-distance coach services, airport taxis, and app-based ride services supported by traffic management systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Future connectivity plans include integration with the Regional Rapid Transit System from Ghaziabad and a proposed Delhi<\/a>\u2013Varanasi high-speed rail corridor, which will include a stop at the airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airport is being developed by Yamuna International Airport Private Limited, a subsidiary of Zurich Airport International AG. The project follows a public\u2013private partnership model with the Government of Uttar Pradesh and the Government of India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The concession period spans 40 years, beginning October 1, 2021. The development aligns with India\u2019s long-term strategy to expand aviation infrastructure and support rising passenger demand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
