Flight operations are expected to begin within 45 days to two months after the licence approval.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The airport will soon begin coordination with airlines to finalise flight schedules and operational readiness. According to the ministry, airports typically require <strong>45 days to two months after licensing<\/strong> to complete operational preparations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During this period, the airport operator will coordinate with airlines to finalise schedules, ground operations, and passenger services. Airlines will also align aircraft deployment, slot allocation, and ticketing systems before launching services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The government indicated that a <strong>formal inauguration ceremony<\/strong> will be organised to mark the opening of the new airport. Today, the country has <strong>166 airports<\/strong>, reflecting one of the fastest airport expansion rates in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This growth forms part of the government\u2019s strategy to improve air connectivity across the country, especially in smaller cities and remote regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>India is currently the <strong>third-largest domestic aviation market globally<\/strong>, government\u2019s <strong>Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS-UDAN)<\/strong> has played a central role in expanding aviation access.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Launched in <strong>October 2016<\/strong>, the programme aims to make air travel affordable and improve connectivity to underserved cities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Key achievements under the scheme include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>663 routes operationalised<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>95 unserved or underserved airports connected<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Expanded air travel access for Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The government recently announced a <strong>modified UDAN programme<\/strong>, which aims to connect <strong>120 additional destinations<\/strong> id=\"h-new-airport-projects-across-the-country\">New Airport Projects Across the Country<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Under the <strong>Greenfield Airports Policy of 2008<\/strong>, the government has granted approval for <strong>24 new greenfield airports<\/strong> across India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So far, <strong>13 of these airports have already started operations<\/strong>, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Durgapur<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Shirdi<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Kannur<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pakyong<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Kalaburagi<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Orvakal (Kurnool)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sindhudurg<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Kushinagar<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Itanagar<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mopa (Goa)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Shivamogga<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rajkot id=\"h-airport-development-plans-in-telangana\">Airport Development Plans in Telangana<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The minister also shared updates about airport expansion in <strong>Telangana<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Mamnoor Airport in Warangal<\/strong> is set for redevelopment. The airport historically operated flights until <strong>1983<\/strong>, including services by Vayudoot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Authorities currently have <strong>about 700 acres of land<\/strong>, but an additional <strong>250 acres were required<\/strong> to extend the runway and support wide-body aircraft operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The state government has approved the additional land. Planning work by the <strong>Airports Authority of India<\/strong> is already underway. The airport is expected to become operational within <strong>two years after construction begins<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The government is also evaluating two additional airport proposals in Telangana:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Kothagudem Greenfield Airport project<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Adilabad Airport project<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These developments aim to expand aviation connectivity across the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stay tuned with us.
