NOIDA-<\/strong> Noida International Airport (DXN)<\/a> has secured security clearance from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), marking a major step toward operational readiness. The approval confirms that the airport\u2019s aviation security systems meet regulatory standards required for commercial flight operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Airlines including IndiGo (6E), Akasa Air (QP), and Air India Express (IX) are preparing to launch services from Noida International Airport (DXN), while nearby Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) continues to serve as the primary aviation hub for Delhi, Rohit Vaid from Hindu BusinessLine reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Noida Airport Security Clearance<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Noida International Airport (DXN) has received security clearance from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sources familiar with the development confirmed that the approval validates the airport\u2019s aviation security infrastructure, operational systems, and procedures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The clearance confirms that the airport complies with the national regulatory requirements required before the start of commercial flight operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airport project previously missed several completion deadlines. Planned launch timelines in late 2024 and April 2025 were delayed as construction and regulatory processes continued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to The Hindu Businessline<\/a>, the approval represents an important milestone in the airport\u2019s progress toward operational readiness. The airport will now proceed with the remaining regulatory requirements before flights begin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airport must complete additional regulatory procedures before starting passenger services. These include obtaining the aerodrome license and securing approval for the Aerodrome Security Programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NIA Chief Executive Officer Christoph Schnellmann earlier explained that the operational readiness process includes finalising airline networks and route plans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airport is currently working with airlines and aviation regulators on slot filing procedures. Slot allocations must be approved by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation<\/a> and other aviation stakeholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once slots are confirmed, airlines typically begin commercial preparations before launch. These preparations include opening ticket sales, scheduling flights, and initiating customer outreach activities to inform passengers about new routes and services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IndiGo (6E)<\/a> will serve as the launch airline for Noida International Airport (DXN). The airport has also established a strategic partnership with Akasa Air (QP)<\/a>, which plans to operate both domestic and international services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Air India Express (IX)<\/a> is also preparing to begin operations from the airport. Discussions are underway with other Indian airlines, while several carriers from the Middle East and Southeast Asia have expressed interest in launching flights from the new airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airport will begin operations with one runway and one passenger terminal during its first development phase. This phase will allow the airport to handle approximately 12 million passengers annually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Future expansion will take place in multiple phases as passenger demand grows. Upon completion of the fourth phase, the airport is expected to increase its annual passenger handling capacity to approximately 70 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The expansion is designed to support growing aviation demand across the National Capital Region and reduce operational pressure on Indira Gandhi International Airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
