ATLANTA-<\/strong> Delta Air Lines (DL)<\/a> has announced a major leadership reshuffle as longtime executive John Laughter prepares to retire after more than three decades with the airline. The changes aim to strengthen the leadership team and support Delta\u2019s long-term strategy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline, headquartered in Atlanta and operating from its primary hub at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), confirmed that several senior executives will take on expanded roles while John Laughter concludes a 30-year career with the airline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delta Reshapes Leadership Team<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Delta Chief Executive Officer Ed Bastian outlined the leadership changes in a memo to employees, describing them as part of the airline\u2019s long-term plan to strengthen its leadership pipeline and maintain operational excellence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Peter Carter has been promoted to President of Delta Air Lines. In this role, Carter will expand his responsibilities beyond global policy and legal affairs to include enterprise strategy, international operations portfolio, real estate, sustainability, and diversity initiatives. Carter joined Delta more than a decade ago and has played a key role in shaping strategic initiatives across multiple departments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bastian noted that Carter\u2019s strategic insight and long-term planning experience make him well-suited to guide Delta through its next phase of growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

John Laughter to Retire After Three Decades at Delta<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

John Laughter will retire as Executive Vice President, Chief of Operations, and President of Delta TechOps effective April 30. His career at Delta began more than 30 years ago when he joined the airline as an aircraft liaison engineer within the TechOps division.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the years, Laughter helped guide Delta through major operational milestones and industry challenges. Under his leadership, Delta strengthened its reputation for operational reliability and safety while expanding its technical operations capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bastian described Laughter as a servant leader who consistently championed Delta\u2019s people-focused culture and played a central role in supporting employees, customers, and communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dan Janki Appointed Chief Operating Officer<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Following Laughter\u2019s retirement, Dan Janki will assume the role of Chief Operating Officer. Janki previously served as Delta\u2019s Chief Financial Officer and has been closely involved in operational strategy and financial planning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As COO, Janki will oversee all aspects of Delta\u2019s operations. His responsibilities will include Airport Customer Service, Flight Operations, In-Flight Service, the Operations and Customer Center, Reservation Sales and Customer Care, Technical Operations, and the airline\u2019s Corporate Safety, Security, and Compliance teams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delta leadership believes consolidating these operational divisions under Janki will strengthen coordination across the airline and support consistent operational performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alain Bellemare Takes Additional Role at Delta TechOps<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Alain Bellemare, Executive Vice President and President International, will also assume the role of Chairman of Delta TechOps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bellemare brings extensive aerospace and aviation industry experience, along with strong global partnerships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His new responsibilities will focus on strengthening the technical operations division and maintaining its industry reputation for engineering excellence and reliability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Erik Snell Named New Chief Financial Officer<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Erik Snell will become Delta\u2019s new Chief Financial Officer. Snell joined Delta two decades ago and has held several leadership roles across finance and operations. Most recently, he served as Chief Customer Experience Officer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As CFO, Snell will oversee the airline\u2019s finance organization along with fleet planning, supply chain operations, and Delta\u2019s refinery subsidiary Monroe Energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delta leadership highlighted Snell\u2019s deep understanding of both financial strategy and frontline operations as a key asset for the role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marketing Leadership Transition<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Delta also confirmed that Chief Marketing Officer Alicia Tillman will leave the company to pursue broader leadership opportunities outside the airline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following her departure, Ranjan Goswami will assume the combined role of Chief Marketing and Product Officer. Goswami has previously led several brand and customer experience initiatives at Delta and is credited with strengthening partnerships and enhancing the airline\u2019s global brand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Peter Carter, Dan Janki, Erik Snell, and Ranjan Goswami will report directly to CEO Ed Bastian<\/a> as part of Delta\u2019s updated leadership structure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
