DUBAI-<\/strong> Emirates Airlines (EK)<\/a> has carried over one million tourists to Mauritius through Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport (MRU) since 2022, accounting for more than 20% of total arrivals during the 2022 to 2025 period. The airline\u2019s network strength and capacity growth have directly supported record visitor numbers to the island in 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mauritius recorded 1,436,250 visitors in 2025, up 3.9% year on year, with Emirates increasing its own passenger volumes to MRU by 5.7% over the same period. The Dubai-based carrier continues to play a central role in expanding the island\u2019s global tourism reach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emirates Mauritius Tourism Growth<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Emirates has supported Mauritius\u2019 tourism sector for over two decades, leveraging its Dubai hub<\/a> to connect the island with more than 150 destinations worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through partnerships and codeshare agreements, the airline also extends connectivity to over 1,700 additional offline points, strengthening Mauritius\u2019 access to long-haul and emerging source markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since 2022, Emirates has transported more than one million tourists to Mauritius. In 2025 alone, the airline carried close to 309,000 visitors<\/strong> from key European markets, including the United Kingdom, Germany, Russia, France, Italy, Belgium, Poland, the Netherlands, and Switzerland. Additional growth came from the United States, China, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Official tourism data confirms that Mauritius surpassed pre-pandemic arrival levels in 2025. Emirates\u2019 annual passenger numbers to the island rose from 207,000 in 2022 to 309,000 in 2025, reflecting a 50% increase over three years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Travellers originated from around 60 countries, including secondary European markets such as Kazakhstan, Slovakia, and Romania, through its partnership with flydubai<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Capacity Expansion and Aircraft Deployment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Emirates operates three daily services between Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport (MRU). The schedule includes two daily Airbus A380 flights and one Boeing 777<\/a> service, providing approximately 10,500 weekly seats into Mauritius.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In response to rising demand, the airline introduced a third daily frequency, increasing seat capacity by roughly 30% on the route. Emirates remains the only airline operating the A380 to Mauritius and the sole carrier offering First Class on the route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From 29 March, the airline will deploy a retrofitted Boeing 777 featuring Premium Economy cabins on flights EK709<\/strong> and EK710<\/strong>. The upgraded aircraft introduces enhanced cabin products and expands premium seating options on the Mauritius Dubai corridor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emirates has collaborated with the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority since 2012 to position the island as a premium leisure destination. Joint campaigns focus on high-value travellers across Europe, the GCC, North America, and Asia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since 2022, more than 30 leading travel agents from Europe and GCC markets have participated in familiarisation trips to Mauritius.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline has also organised roadshows, workshops, and training sessions in partnership with hotels and tourism stakeholders. These initiatives provide agents with product knowledge and sales incentives to promote tailored holiday packages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marketing support includes targeted advertising campaigns, influencer visits, and media familiarisation trips. Seasonal promotions have featured Mauritius prominently, including double Emirates Skywards incentives for hotel stays and collaborations with global hospitality brands such as Marriott Hotels and RIU Resorts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The platform offers curated packages that combine beach stays with excursions, gastronomy, and cultural experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Emirates\u2019 2025 summer travel trends data, searches for flights to Mauritius increased by 41% last summer, making it the second most searched destination across the airline\u2019s network after Vietnam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To support long term growth, Emirates launched a new experiential Travel Store in Port Louis in 2025. The facility offers customers in-person booking services, product showcases, and personalised travel assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
