PALM BEACH-<\/strong> Palm Beach International Airport (PBI)<\/a> will be renamed Donald J. Trump International Airport after the Florida Legislature approved the measure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The proposal now awaits the signature of Ron DeSantis and is expected to take effect July 1, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The vote passed along strict party lines, allocating $5.5 million<\/strong> for signage, branding, and system updates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The decision places PBI alongside airports such as John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), which are named after former U.S. presidents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Florida Lawmakers Approve Trump Airport Renaming<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In November 2025, Florida State Representative Meg Weinberger introduced legislation to rename Palm Beach International Airport after Donald Trump<\/a>. In a public statement, she said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPresident Trump is the most consequential president of our lifetime and a resident of Palm Beach County, which makes it only fitting to honor him, like many other presidents before him, by naming our airport Donald J. Trump International.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Weinberger also posted on X that \u201cAmerica\u2019s greatest President deserves an airport that bears his name,\u201d describing the proposal as a tribute to his leadership and hometown roots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Florida House approved the bill in an 81 to 30 vote. The Senate followed with a 25 to 11 vote. Both chambers voted strictly along partisan lines. The legislation now requires Governor DeSantis\u2019 approval to become law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to OMAAT<\/a>, given the Republican majority in the legislature, the proposal was widely expected to pass.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
