LAS VEGAS\u2013<\/strong> A female passenger was arrested at Harry Reid International Airport (LAS)<\/a> after allegedly abandoning her two-year-old dog at a check-in counter when airline staff informed her that she lacked the required paperwork. The incident involved JetBlue Airways (B6)<\/a> and occurred inside Terminal 3 during a late-night departure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department confirmed that officers detained the traveler after she proceeded through security without the animal. Authorities later charged her with animal abandonment and resisting arrest following a confrontation at the departure gate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to police, the woman arrived at the airport on February 2, 2026, intending to travel with her golden doodle as a service animal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

JetBlue policy requires passengers traveling with trained service animals to submit specific forms at least 48 hours before departure. Without the approved paperwork, the airline declined to issue a boarding pass for the animal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police said that after being informed of the requirement, the woman tied the dog to a metal post near the check-in area and continued through the Transportation Security Administration checkpoint. As officers escorted the passenger back through the security checkpoint toward the check-in area, the situation escalated. Police reported that the woman became hostile and resisted their attempts to detain her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Authorities subsequently arrested her on charges of animal abandonment and resisting a public officer. She was transported for booking, while airport personnel ensured the dog\u2019s safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police stated that the traveler allegedly indicated the dog had a tracking device, suggesting it would be acceptable to leave the animal behind temporarily. Officials emphasized that abandoning an animal inside an airport facility constitutes a criminal offense under Nevada law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Airline Pet Policies<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
