Regional analysts cite concerns over the UAE’s involvement in conflicts across Libya, Yemen, and Sudan, alongside growing political differences with regional partners.

The dispute surfaced shortly after tensions increased between Saudi Arabia and the UAE over policies related to Yemen’s civil conflict, signaling shifting alliances within the region.

Could Regional Airspace Restrictions Expand?

Analysts also recall the 2017 diplomatic crisis involving Qatar, when Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, and Egypt cut ties and closed airspace, significantly affecting Qatar Airways operations.

That blockade lasted until early 2021 and caused major operational losses for the airline due to longer flight routes and airspace bans.

While no such restrictions have been announced against the UAE, the situation highlights how diplomatic disputes can directly affect airline networks and passenger connectivity.

Photo: Dubai Airshow

Impact on Travelers and Aviation Markets

Passengers traveling between Algeria and the UAE currently face no immediate disruption.
