MONTREAL-<\/strong> Air Canada (AC)<\/a> has placed a firm order for 8 Airbus A350-1000 aircraft, with rights to purchase eight more, marking a pivotal upgrade to its long-haul fleet strategy and additional commitment to Airbus widebody aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This order, listed as undisclosed in November 2025, unlocks a new generation of long-haul capabilities with first deliveries expected in the second half of 2030.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He adds that the aircraft brings state-of-the-art capabilities and improved efficiencies, unlocking new long-haul opportunities worldwide, and with the Maple Leaf adorning the tail, it plays a central role in defining Air Canada’s next era by connecting customers, hubs, and the country to the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

John Di Bert, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Air Canada, emphasizes that the addition serves as a forward-looking investment strengthening long-term cost efficiency, enhancing operational reliability, and ensuring competitiveness across the global network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Environmental Advancements and Fleet Renewal<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The A350-1000 already operates with up to 50 percent Sustainable Aviation Fuel, with Airbus targeting 100 percent capability by 2030.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This capability reduces emissions and aligns with Air Canada’s environmental goals. At the end of January 2026, the A350 family had secured over 1,500 orders from 67 customers worldwide, highlighting its market leadership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This order for eight A350-1000s adds to 14 Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners expected to start entering service later this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Air Canada prepares to welcome the first of its 30 Airbus A321XLRs<\/a> in the coming months. The airline continues deliveries of the Canadian-assembled Airbus A220, with 23 aircraft remaining on its firm order of 65.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
