The <a href=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/index.php\/tag\/boeing-787-9\/\">Boeing 787-9<\/a> is the first aircraft type to fully showcase this strategy from nose to tail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>United currently operates approximately 80 Boeing 787 aircraft across the 787-8, 787-9, and 787-10 variants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The airline also has more than 140 additional Dreamliners on firm order, which will serve as the backbone of fleet renewal over the next decade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/onemileatatime.com\/news\/united-787-new-polaris-seats-premium-configuration\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">OMAAT<\/a>, the new 787-9 configuration represents the most premium aircraft ever operated by a US carrier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"United \u2014 Introducing the United Elevated interior and United Polaris Studio\" width=\"729\" height=\"410\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/a985MM7ZeUQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The new Boeing 787-9s are configured with just 222 total seats, making them the least densely configured widebody aircraft in United\u2019s fleet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Seat breakdown<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>64 Polaris business class seats across 16 rows in a 1-2-1 layout\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>8 seats are designated as Polaris Studio, positioned in the first row<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>35 Premium Plus seats across 5 rows in a 2-3-2 layout<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>123 economy seats across 15 rows in a 3-3-3 layout\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>39 seats are sold as Economy Plus with extra legroom<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Cabin zoning by aircraft doors<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Between doors one and two: 32 business class seats<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Between doors two and three: 32 business class seats and all 35 Premium Plus seats<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Between doors three and four: all 123 economy seats<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>A distinctive design element is found in the business class cabin. The forward section uses a reverse herringbone layout with seats angled inward, while the rear section uses a traditional herringbone layout with seats angled outward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This mixed improved range and payload flexibility on ultra-long-haul routes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the same time, the aircraft remain versatile enough to serve high-demand premium markets where range is not the limiting factor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Several of these Boeing 787-9s are expected to eventually replace premium-configured <a href=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/index.php\/tag\/boeing-767\/\">Boeing 767-300ER<\/a> aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Routes such as London Heathrow rely heavily on premium demand rather than maximum range, making the new Dreamliners a suitable long-term quarter<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>6 aircraft in the fourth quarter<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If achieved, this would represent the largest number of widebody aircraft delivered to a US airline in a single year since 1988.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first aircraft with the new layout is expected to join the fleet within weeks, with initial routes operating from San Francisco.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By the end of 2027, United expects approximately 30 of these ultra-premium 787-9s to be in service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While some existing aircraft may later receive new cabins, they are not expected to adopt the same
