DOHA-<\/strong> Qatar Airways (QR)<\/a> will increase flight frequencies to South Africa from February 2026 to meet rising demand for both business and leisure travel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The expansion strengthens connectivity via Doha Hamad International Airport (DOH) to Johannesburg (JNB), Cape Town (CPT), and Durban (DUR).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The revised schedule raises Qatar Airways\u2019 total weekly flights to South Africa from 35 to 42, improving access between South Africa and the airline\u2019s global network of more than 170 destinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to BizCommunity<\/a>, the move supports tourism, trade, and long-haul connectivity across key international markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Qatar Airways Expands South Africa Flights <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The frequency increases enhance travel options between South Africa and major global regions, including China, Europe, and the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Doha continues to serve as the central hub, enabling seamless onward connections across Asia, the Americas, Europe, and the Middle East.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These additions provide greater schedule flexibility and capacity for both corporate and leisure travelers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The South Africa expansion follows a year of heightened activity for Qatar Airways across the African continent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline has expanded cooperation through partnerships with Air Alg\u00e9rie (AH)<\/a>, Kenya Airways (KQ)<\/a>, and RwandAir (WB)<\/a> to improve regional connectivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Qatar Airways also strengthened its presence in Southern Africa through its strategic partnership with Airlink (4Z)<\/a>, acquiring a 25% stake in October 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This investment supports feeder traffic into long-haul routes and improves access to secondary cities within the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Qatar Airways Cargo currently transports more than 6,000 tonnes of cargo into and out of Africa each week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On selected African routes, Qatar Airways has introduced enhanced onboard connectivity, including gate-to-gate Starlink Wi-Fi<\/a>, subject to local regulatory approvals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline has also updated its inflight experience with regionally inspired meals and an expanded selection of African music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Qatar Airways has operated services to Africa for more than three decades. Its first African route launched in 1994, and the airline now operates over 170 weekly flights to 29 cities across 21 African countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
