On January 8, 2026, two MH-139A Grey Wolf<\/a> helicopters assigned to the 40th Helicopter Squadron conducted their first operational Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile convoy security mission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UH-1N Huey to MH-139 Grey Wolf<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Program Development and Acquisition<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Boeing delivered the first MH-139A to the United States Air Force on December 19, 2019, at Duke Field, Florida, initiating combined developmental testing for the UH-1N replacement program. The helicopter is a militarized version of the Leonardo AW139 civil aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Malmstrom Air Force Base hosted a welcome ceremony for its first operationally configured MH-139A on March 9, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
