Etihad Airways Flight EY416 experienced turbulence while circling Phuket International Airport at approximately 11.30 am local time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aircraft was in its final approach phase when the turbulence occurred, prompting concern among crew and passengers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to airport officials, the flight was carrying 160 passengers. After the turbulence incident, the flight crew immediately informed air traffic control and requested medical support upon landing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Passengers reported abrupt lateral movement followed by a sharp descent. Several individuals stated they were lifted from their seats due to the intensity of the turbulence. Cabin crew later described the event as unprecedented in their combined experience of more than a decade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aircraft landed back at Birmingham approximately 92 minutes after departure. Medical teams met the aircraft at a remote stand to assist injured passengers. In a separate incident, a Delta Air Lines (DL) flight bound for Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) was forced to divert after encountering significant midair turbulence<\/a> over the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delta flight DL56 departed Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) at 16:30 local time on July 30, 2025, operating an Airbus A330-900. Approximately two hours into the scheduled nine-hour journey, conditions deteriorated rapidly, prompting the flight crew to initiate a diversion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to FlightRadar24 data, the aircraft departed at 22:45 UTC and landed safely at Minneapolis\u2013St. Paul International Airport (MSP) at 00:51 UTC. The aircraft, registered as N422DZ, is a 2.3-year-old widebody jet powered by two Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Delta aircraft landed at MSP at 19:45 local time, where emergency medical teams boarded the plane immediately. Of the 275 passengers and 13 crew members onboard, 25 passengers were transported to local hospitals for further evaluation and treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
