Parallel improvements to Terminal 1 are also progressing, ensuring capacity keeps pace with airline expansion plans.

Management has signaled that the current list of seven routes is not final, with additional announcements expected later in the year.

Airlines continue to evaluate Manchester as a base for growth due to its strong catchment area and improving facilities.

Photo: EC/EJU EasyJet Europe Airbus 320 OE-IJG | Manchester Airport… | Flickr

Network Expansion Outlook

Manchester Airport’s recent route additions underline its focus on unserved and underserved markets.

In 2025, new long-haul services connected the region directly with destinations in India, Pakistan, and Thailand, significantly reshaping travel options for northern England.

Looking ahead, airport leadership has identified further international growth opportunities across the Middle East, Asia, Africa, and the Americas. Destinations such as Riyadh and Tokyo remain high on the airport’s priority list as it works toward a long-term goal of reaching 40 million passengers annually.

The steady addition of both leisure and long-haul routes reflects a balanced network strategy aimed at resilience and sustained growth.

This approach positions Manchester to capture demand that previously flowed through other UK or European hubs.

Photo: PixaBay

Bottom Line

Manchester Airport’s seven confirmed routes for 2026 mark another step in its post-pandemic expansion, supported by major infrastructure investment and strong airline interest.

With more destinations expected to follow, the airport is reinforcing its role as the North’s primary global aviation gateway.

Stay tuned with us.
