TAIPEI-<\/strong> EVA Air (BR)<\/a> plans to invest over NT$65 billion to strengthen its long-haul fleet. The carrier will purchase 4 additional Boeing 787-9 aircraft for up to US$1.94 billion (NT$60.96 billion) while extending leases on 4 Boeing 777-300ER aircraft and upgrading cabins on 6 Boeing 777-300ER aircraft for a combined maximum of US$152 million (NT$4.776 billion).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The board approved these measures on Friday, 26th December 2025, to match route layout and operational needs, ensure product consistency across wide-body aircraft after Airbus A350-1000 arrivals in 2027, and respond to rising demand on international services from its primary hub at Taipei Taoyuan International Airport (TPE).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eva Air New Boeing 787-9 Orders<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

EVA Air\u2019s (BR) board of directors resolved to acquire 4 additional Boeing 787-9<\/a> aircraft at a total transaction amount not exceeding US$1.94 billion (NT$60.96 billion).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The purchase directly responds to the current route layout and operational needs for medium and long-haul services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the same time, the airline will extend the lease term of 4 Boeing 777-300ER<\/a> aircraft and upgrade the cabins of 6 Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, with combined costs capped at no more than US$152 million (NT$4.776 billion).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reported by CNA<\/a>, these actions form part of a broader strategy to maintain competitiveness and achieve uniform cabin products across the long-range wide-body fleet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cabin upgrades, scheduled to begin in 2026, will cover seats, in-flight entertainment systems, and cabin environment in all cabin classes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program will increase the number of seats in Royal Laurel Class to meet future market demand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By adding 6 more Boeing 777-300ER aircraft to the upgrade scope, EVA Air expands the total to 20 aircraft receiving this consistent retrofit, aligning product quality with the incoming Airbus A350-1000 fleet starting in 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Current Fleet and Planned Deliveries<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

EVA Air currently operates a fleet of 89 passenger and cargo aircraft. In addition to the 4 newly approved Boeing 787-9 aircraft, the airline has 5 Boeing 787-9 and 4 Boeing 787-10 aircraft on order, with all deliveries expected to be completed before 2033.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking further ahead, EVA Air anticipates delivery of 24 Airbus A350-1000<\/a> wide-body aircraft beginning in 2027 and 18 Airbus A321neo<\/a> narrow-body aircraft starting in 2029.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These modern additions, combined with the Boeing investments and upgrades, support improved fuel efficiency, lower emissions, and sustained growth in passenger comfort and cargo capacity on global routes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
