The interaction between the toddler from Minnesota and veteran flight attendant Terry Grant brought joy to passengers, eased a nervous flyer’s worries, and created an authentic cabin connection that spread across social media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This wholesome encounter, captured in a TikTok video posted by Lydia’s mother, Becca Bakker, on December 5, 2025, showcased genuine kindness at 30,000 feet<\/strong> and reminded everyone how small acts of inclusion can transform air travel and build community mid-flight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Toddler Turns Trash Collection into Cabin Adventure<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

On a Delta Air Lines (DL) flight to visit family for Thanksgiving, Two and half year old toddler Lydia from Minnesota stepped into an unexpected role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a self-described nervous flyer, her mother, Becca Bakker, felt anxious about the journey and prepared with lots of toys and window clings. Those items remained unused after the family boarded and sat toward the back of the plane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Flight attendant<\/a> Terry Grant, a 39-year veteran with the airline, noticed the energetic toddler seemed restless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Grant invited Lydia to help collect trash, and the child eagerly accepted. Lydia walked down the aisle carrying a garbage bag, politely asking each row, “Trash, please?” Grant encouraged her gently, saying, \u201cTurn to the other side,\u201d and coached her to keep asking passengers for their garbage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Passengers responded with delight. Many ripped their trash into smaller pieces so Lydia had more to collect, turning the task into a shared, joyful activity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to People<\/a>, Grant described Lydia as “captivating,” noting, “She hugged me with her heart, and she kept pulling me back to her every time I walked by. She would just captivate me.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Grant added that Lydia reminded her of her own daughter, who now works as a TV anchor. While Grant has asked children to help clean up before, it had been a while since she saw such enthusiasm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Grant called the experience “magical synchronicity,” explaining, “It was like everything came together in this magical synchronicity that caused this wonderful moment to happen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was perfectly orchestrated without being rehearsed. It was just authentic and pure, and I think that\u2019s what makes it so special.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Becca shared that the encounter transformed her entire view of flying. “This experience completely changed my perspective on flying, it\u2019s not such a scary thing for me anymore,” she told PEOPLE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She now sees airplanes as spaces where community builds and exciting memories form with an entire cabin of people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lydia still proudly talks about her role, repeating, “I picked up all the garbage,” just as Becca captioned in the viral TikTok post: \u201cOur Delta flight attendant noticed our toddler needed a job, now all she talks about is \u2018I picked [up] all the garbage.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
