FRANKFURT-<\/strong> Lufthansa Airlines (LH)<\/a> has welcomed a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner carrying a special livery marking 100 years since the founding of the original ‘Luft Hansa’. The aircraft arrived at Frankfurt Airport (FRA) from Everett, Washington.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new Dreamliner, registered as D-ABPU and named Berlin, will soon enter scheduled service. It also serves as the lead aircraft of Lufthansa\u2019s upcoming centennial anniversary fleet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lufthansa First 787 with Anniversary Livery<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Boeing 787-9 arrived at Frankfurt Airport to significant public attention. Aviation enthusiasts, passengers, and Lufthansa staff gathered to witness the landing of the anniversary aircraft, which was transferred directly from Boeing\u2019s Everett production facility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lufthansa Airlines Chief Executive Officer Jens Ritter personally welcomed the aircraft, calling the delivery a rare and memorable moment. While the arrival of a new aircraft is always significant, the centennial-themed Dreamliner carries added symbolic weight for the airline as it approaches a historic milestone in 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aircraft\u2019s livery combines heritage elements with a modern visual identity. Its deep blue fuselage features an oversized white crane, Lufthansa\u2019s long-standing emblem, with the crane\u2019s wings extending seamlessly into the aircraft\u2019s wings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additional design details include a large 100 on the left side of the fuselage, the years 1926 | 2026 on the right side, and another 100 marking on the underside of the aircraft. Together, these elements position the Dreamliner as a flying ambassador for Lufthansa\u2019s centennial celebration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Road to Lufthansa\u2019s 100th Anniversary<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Lufthansa traces its origins to January 6, 1926, with the first official flight taking place on April 6 of the same year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To honor this legacy, the airline plans to introduce a six-aircraft anniversary fleet during 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alongside the Boeing 787-9, the fleet will include an Airbus A380, Airbus A350-1000<\/a>, Airbus A350-900, Airbus A320, and a Boeing 747-8. Each aircraft will receive the centennial livery gradually, with the full fleet expected to be completed by fall 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Entry Into Commercial Service<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The newly delivered Boeing 787-9<\/a> is scheduled to begin regular passenger operations in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
