LONDON-<\/strong> British Airways (BA)<\/a> is preparing to expand its India operations due to strong and sustained travel demand between India and the United Kingdom, supported by high passenger volumes across London Heathrow (LHR).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The carrier currently operates 56 weekly flights from India<\/strong> to the UK and plans additional frequency beginning next year across major gateway airports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Strong performance on routes from Delhi (DEL), Mumbai (BOM), Bengaluru (BLR), Chennai (MAA), and Hyderabad (HYD) to London Heathrow (LHR) continues to reinforce India as a core growth market, with new daily services expected by 2026 as the airline increases capacity to meet rising demand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

British Airways Daily Delhi to London Flight<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

British Airways intends to scale its India services in line with increasing travel demand and views the market as having incredible long-term potential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

COO Rene de Groot stated that India has been central to BA\u2019s network for more than 100 years, with the airline currently operating three daily flights from Mumbai, two from Delhi and one each from Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

De Groot confirmed that British Airways plans to add a third daily Delhi to London service by 2026, pending regulatory approval.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The COO emphasised that the network schedule is under continuous review to ensure strong customer connectivity and choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that as demand strengthens, the airline will maintain focus on expanding services and elevating the overall travel experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Economic Impact and Workforce Investment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

India is British Airways\u2019 second largest market after the United States, making it strategically important to the company\u2019s global business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

De Groot noted that BA is creating employment opportunities in India and supporting regional economies while promoting the best of Britain abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Crew bases are located in every Indian city the airline serves, and the COO described local staff as essential for delivering personalised and premium customer service while overcoming language barriers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline has invested heavily in building its Indian workforce. Its call centre in Gurugram employs approximately 2,000 staff and provides 24×7 assistance to customers across the United States, Europe, and Asia Pacific.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BA also operates five Indian cabin crew bases that continue to expand in size as the carrier strengthens its footprint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Partnerships, Codeshares, and Passenger Support<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

British Airways continues to expand options for travellers through its partnerships. The carrier has a codeshare agreement with IndiGo<\/a> and a joint business partnership with Qatar Airways<\/a>, which together enable operations to 13 Indian stations and a total of 148 weekly one-way direct options through London and Doha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These partnerships broaden access to regional Indian cities beyond BA\u2019s own direct network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In March, BA launched its Meet and Assist service dedicated to passengers travelling from India to the UK who require additional support during their journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline views the rise of Indian carriers, including IndiGo and Air India, as a positive sign for the aviation industry and for India\u2019s emergence as a global aviation hub.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
