DELHI-<\/strong> Thiruvananthapuram has taken a major step toward expanding its aviation infrastructure as Adani Airport Holdings Ltd received environmental clearance for a Rs 136-crore luxury hotel project inside the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport<\/a> (TRV) premises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The approval comes at a time when Indian carriers such as Air India (AI)<\/a> and IndiGo (6E)<\/a> continue to expand capacity through Kerala\u2019s aviation hubs, increasing demand for premium passenger amenities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adani TRV Airport Hotel<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Union Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change granted the approval after a detailed review by its Expert Appraisal Committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The proposed development spans just over 8,000 sq m in a prime section of the airport\u2019s city-side area, currently used as an open parking zone managed by Adani\u2019s airport arm under a long-term concession agreement with the Airports Authority of India (AAI)<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The five-storey hotel will offer 240 rooms along with food-and-beverage facilities accommodating 660 guests. Its total built-up area is estimated at nearly 34,000 sq m, supported by two basement parking levels, a ground floor, and four upper floors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officials stated that the project is designed to integrate with the existing airport infrastructure while maintaining safety and operational efficiency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Authorities confirmed that the facility will use treated water from an on-site sewage treatment plant, which is expected to supply nearly half of the hotel\u2019s total water requirement. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Solid waste will be processed through organic-waste converters and licensed recyclers, ensuring compliance with current sustainability standards. The plan also includes transplanting approximately 40 trees within the airport boundaries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ministry noted that the selected site lies outside any eco-sensitive zone, forest area, or legally disputed land. With no pending court cases, the proposal progressed at the central level due to the temporary absence of the State Environment Impact Assessment Authority in Kerala.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The developer aims to reduce energy consumption by as much as 20 percent through design-led efficiency features and green-belt planning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officials highlighted that the project is expected to generate around 300 direct jobs and nearly 900 indirect jobs. These roles will support hotel operations, ground-side logistics, and associated tourism activity, making the project a key contributor to regional economic growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
