MUMBAI-<\/strong> World’s Busiest single-runway airport, Mumbai\u2019s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA, IATA Code BOM)<\/a> set a new operational record as the festive travel period pushed traffic higher across India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airport handled 1,036 Air Traffic Movements in 24 hours on 21 November 2025, surpassing its previous high set in 2023. The milestone also came on a day when passenger numbers surged, with domestic and international travellers moving through Mumbai (BOM) in near record volumes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new ATM peak at CSMIA reflects sustained demand in both domestic and international sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Traffic flows were driven by consistent growth on metro routes and high loads on major global connections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Passenger Traffic and Flight Operations<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

CSMIA recorded 1,70,488 passenger movements on 21 November 2025. Domestic travel accounted for 1,21,527 passengers, while 48,961 passengers flew on international routes. The total approached the airport\u2019s highest single-day traffic of 1,70,516 reported on 11 January 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Operations remained steady across the day with 86,443 arrivals and 84,045 departures. The airport managed 1,036 ATMs, comprising 755 domestic flights and 281 international flights. In total, there were approximately 520 arrivals and 516 departures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Domestic growth was led by heavy demand on sectors such as Delhi (DEL), Bengaluru (BLR), Ahmedabad (AMD), Hyderabad (HYD), and Kolkata (CCU).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

International passenger flows were strongest to Dubai (DXB), Abu Dhabi (AUH), London Heathrow (LHR), Doha (DOH), and Jeddah (JED).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CSMIA continued to improve passenger movement through expanded Self Baggage Drop units, self check-in kiosks, and broader DigiYatra and FTI TTP usage. These upgrades helped reduce wait times and streamline processing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Operational capability was strengthened by the upgraded Airport Operations Control Centre. The AOCC supported real-time monitoring and coordination across airport stakeholders, helping maintain punctuality and passenger convenience even on high traffic days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
