DUBAI-<\/strong> Emirates Airline (EK)<\/a> is moving into the next stage of its fleet upgrade as 60 Airbus A380s and 51 Boeing 777s are scheduled for major cabin enhancements. These upgrades will begin rolling out from August 2026 at Dubai International Airport (DXB)<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The programme introduces new seating, refreshed cabins, improved in-flight entertainment, and Starlink Wi-Fi across both aircraft types. It aims to deliver a consistent and elevated travel experience across the airline\u2019s expanding widebody fleet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emirates Next Cabin Retrofit Phase<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Emirates Engineering, working with Airbus<\/a>, Safran, Recaro, Panasonic, Starlink, and UUDS, is equipping 60 A380s with redesigned seating and a new onboard lounge. These aircraft, along with 51 Boeing 777s, will feature Panasonic\u2019s Astrova entertainment system, ensuring uniform service quality across the next 111 retrofitted jets<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline continues pushing cabin innovation through close work with aircraft manufacturers and suppliers. It focuses on long-term product development, covering comfort, privacy, entertainment, and cabin technology. This includes steady investment in solutions that improve the passenger journey on every route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cabin Enhancements Across All Classes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Business Class<\/strong> on both the A380<\/a> and Boeing 777 will incorporate Emirates\u2019 newest seating generation, inspired by the Safran S Lounge leather design used on the A350.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each seat creates a more private space with practical features such as wireless charging, customised lighting, improved storage, minibar amenities, and multiple charging options, including USB-C.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Premium Economy<\/strong> will use Recaro seats with a mechanical recline system. Wide leather seats, integrated leg and footrests, adjustable headrests, in-seat charging, a side cocktail table, and a 13.3-inch screen aim to deliver strong comfort and value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Economy Class<\/strong> will shift to Safran Z400 seats designed for long-haul performance. These seats include an eight-way adjustable headrest and other comfort-focused elements suited for extended flights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Upgraded Entertainment and Connectivity<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The Astrova platform brings 4K OLED HDR10 screens with vivid colour, deep contrast, and strong clarity. Spatial Audio enhances sound quality for both Emirates headsets and personal Bluetooth devices. Each seat will receive 67W USB-C charging to support high-demand electronics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The entertainment system also integrates the Arc 3D 4K moving map. A personalised recommendation engine linked with the Skywards programme helps passengers find preferred content, while real-time insights help Emirates refine its catalogue based on usage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alongside the interior upgrades, Emirates will expand Starlink connectivity<\/a> across all A380 and Boeing 777 aircraft. Installing antennas during the retrofit process speeds up fleet-wide rollout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delivering Consistent Experience Across the Fleet<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The retrofit effort began in 2021 with 120 aircraft and expanded to 191 aircraft in 2024, then again to 219 aircraft later that year. This growth reflects the airline\u2019s aim to maintain consistent service standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So far, 76 aircraft have been completed. Each A380 takes about 22 days to refurbish, while each Boeing 777 requires 18 days. Two renewed aircraft exit the programme every month, deploying across the global network with upgraded cabins and connectivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
