While Melbourne flights already use the updated cabin, the Istanbul service has long been unpredictable.

The older 2-3-2 cabin on selected Boeing 777-300ERs offers flat beds but lacks privacy. A third of passengers do not have direct aisle access, and middle seats remain a drawback for solo travellers. Couples may still enjoy the side-by-side layout, but overall, the design falls short of modern expectations for long-haul comfort.

Turkish Airlines introduced its 1-2-1 Business Class seats on Singapore flights in 2020 through the Boeing 787 and newer Airbus A350s. These aircraft use the Stelia Symphony seat, offering direct aisle access for all passengers, an 18-inch entertainment screen, free Business Class Wi-Fi, and improved privacy. Despite these upgrades, the route has remained a lottery due to rotating aircraft assignments.

Photo: Clément Alloing

What Changes from March 2026

From 3 March 2026, every Turkish Airlines flight between Singapore and Istanbul will use either the Airbus A350 or Boeing 787.
