MESA\u2014<\/strong> The delivery of three Boeing AH-64E Apache Guardian attack helicopters<\/a> to the Indian Army took an unexpected turn when the Antonov Airlines An-124 cargo jet (ADB) carrying them from the United States to India returned to Arizona with the helicopters still onboard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After a scheduled stop at East Midlands Airport (EMA) in the United Kingdom, the An-124 reversed course and flew back to Phoenix\u2013Mesa Gateway Airport (IWA). Boeing later confirmed that \u201clogistical issues\u201d had interrupted the delivery, though specific details remain undisclosed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apache AH-64E Helicopters Delivery Delays<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Antonov An-124<\/a>, registered UR-82008, departed Mesa following the loading of the three AH-64Es\u2014already painted in Indian Army desert camouflage\u2014on November 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aircraft reached East Midlands Airport in England, where it remained grounded for eight days. Instead of proceeding to India, it unexpectedly returned across the Atlantic, landing back in Arizona on November 8.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Observers at Mesa captured images of the Apaches being unloaded with their rotors removed, signaling an indefinite delay in their transfer. One of the helicopters, identified by serial number IA-7105, was among those slated for delivery to India as part of a six-aircraft contract.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cause of the turnaround remains uncertain. Boeing told TWZ<\/a><\/em> that it is working with U.S. authorities and the Indian Army to resolve \u201cexternal logistical issues\u201d and complete delivery \u201cas expeditiously as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
