SHANGHAI-<\/strong> China Eastern Airlines (MU)<\/a> has officially resumed direct passenger flights between Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) and Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL). The inaugural service, flight MU563<\/strong>, departed at 13:02 on Sunday with 248 passengers and achieved a load factor exceeding 95 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This marks the first direct China\u2013India passenger flight operated by a Chinese mainland-based airline in 2025. The reinstatement signals a renewed phase of air connectivity between two of Asia\u2019s key economic and cultural hubs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

China Eastern Reconnects Shanghai and Delhi<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Shanghai Pudong\u2013Delhi route, operated by an Airbus A330<\/a> wide-body aircraft, currently runs three times a week on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. China Eastern Airlines (MU) said the frequency will be reviewed and potentially increased based on passenger demand and market conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the Shanghai\u2013Delhi service, the airline plans to resume the Kunming\u2013Kolkata route and introduce a new Shanghai\u2013Mumbai service. The first step toward restoring air traffic came on October 26, when IndiGo (6E)<\/a> resumed operations with a Delhi\u2013Guangzhou route, landing at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IndiGo, one of India\u2019s largest carriers, has since expanded its China services with a second daily direct flight between Delhi (DEL) and Guangzhou (CAN), scheduled to start on November 10.
