The 9.57% stake, worth roughly <strong>HK$7 billion<\/strong>, will return to Cathay Pacific\u2019s treasury once approved by shareholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cathay\u2019s chairman, Patrick Healy, said the move aligns with the airline\u2019s long-term goal to strengthen <a href=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/?s=Hong+Kong\">Hong Kong International Airport (HKG)<\/a> as a global hub.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The carrier has already committed more than HK$100 billion to enhance its fleet, cabins, lounges, and digital operations. The airline also retains shares in LATAM, China Southern Airlines (CZ), and RwandAir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2023, Qatar Airways expanded its influence in Australia by acquiring a 25% stake in <a href=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/index.php\/tag\/virgin-australia\/\">Virgin Australia (VA)<\/a>.
