CHRISTCHURCH-<\/strong> Air New Zealand (NZ)<\/a> is expanding its international network with a new seasonal service between Christchurch (CHC) and Rarotonga (RAR).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The route will operate from May to October 2026, offering direct access to the Cook Islands\u2019 tropical getaway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Air New Zealand Christchurch to Rarotonga Flight<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Starting 26 May 2026, flights will depart Christchurch at 3:40 pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, returning from Rarotonga at 11:30 pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With up to three weekly services and 18,000 seats available across the season, travelers from the South Island will have more options to escape winter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The launch highlights Air New Zealand\u2019s (NZ) ongoing investment in enhancing international links from Christchurch. The airline\u2019s Chief Executive Officer, Nikhil Ravishankar, said the move reflects strong customer demand and strategic focus on the South Island\u2019s role as a key gateway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ravishankar noted that demand for Rarotonga flights has grown significantly, particularly among families seeking accessible holiday destinations. \u201cLaunching this direct service ahead of the July school holidays makes it even easier for families to trade frosty mornings for tropical sunshine,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Christchurch Airport Chief Executive Justin Watson added that South Islanders have a long-standing love for Rarotonga. \u201cThis new direct flight makes that even easier. It\u2019s another great step in expanding international options for our airport,\u201d Watson said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bookings open from 5 November 2025 at the airline’s official website, subject to regulatory approval.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
