LONDON-<\/strong> A British Airways (BA)<\/a> passenger claims she would have refused to board her flight to Rome Fiumicino (FCO)<\/strong> had she known she\u2019d be sprayed with what she described as a \u201ctoxic\u201d insecticide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Melissa Arana shared her experience online, alleging that the crew sprayed the cabin before takeoff and that one attendant admitted frustration over performing the task regularly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

British Airways Passenger Found Insecticide<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Arana said the incident occurred on a British Airways flight from London Heathrow (LHR)<\/a> to Rome Fiumicino (FCO)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In her post, she wrote that passengers were \u201csprayed down\u201d with a chemical insecticide without prior notice. She added that the spraying was \u201cdisgusting\u201d and raised concerns for people with asthma or respiratory issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While British Airways<\/strong> does not explicitly inform passengers during booking that certain routes involve insecticide spraying, the airline provides details on its official website about which flights require \u201cdisinsection.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This process, recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO)<\/strong> and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)<\/strong>, aims to prevent the spread of mosquito-borne diseases such as dengue, malaria, and Zika.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
