NAGPUR-<\/strong> Tata Group-owned Air India (AI)<\/a> has completed the repainting and cabin retrofit of 12 aircraft at Nagpur (NAG), handled by Indamer AAR Technics Private Limited. Each aircraft received a new livery and upgraded seats as part of a fleet-wide modernization effort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facility at Nagpur managed the assignment as part of Air India\u2019s ongoing fleet transformation. The total cost per aircraft is estimated at \u20b910 crore, including \u20b98 crore for new seating and \u20b91.5 crore for repainting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Air India Retrofits 12 Aircraft<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Indamer AAR Technics\u2019 MRO facility in Nagpur was awarded the task to repaint and retrofit 12 of the 26 Air India aircraft undergoing upgrades. Eleven of these aircraft have already been completed, and the twelfth is scheduled to roll out within days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Repainting an aircraft is a specialized process distinct from regular maintenance. The Nagpur facility has a dedicated hangar for this purpose, where around 40 skilled technicians work for about a week to complete a single aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They apply aviation-grade coatings that ensure durability, reduced drag, and visual consistency with Air India\u2019s latest branding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The freshly painted planes now sport the airline\u2019s updated livery, aligning with its broader rebranding and modernization campaign following its acquisition by the Tata Group, the Times of India<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sources indicate that similar contracts from other Indian carriers are under discussion.
