LONDON-<\/strong> A British Airways (BA)<\/a> passenger was arrested mid-flight after a violent outburst on a journey from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to London Heathrow (LHR). The disturbance forced crew members to restrain the man, significantly disrupting operations and alarming passengers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The passenger, Simon Jones, 51, of Willington, Bedford, appeared before Uxbridge Magistrates\u2019 Court on Monday, where he admitted several offences relating to his abusive behavior toward both crew and passengers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

British Airways Passenger Arrested<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Simon Jones was traveling on a British Airways (BA) flight from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to London Heathrow (LHR)<\/a> on May 23 this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During pre-flight safety checks, he began clapping, speaking loudly, and behaving erratically. Prosecutor Ashleigh Ettienne told the court that Jones ignored attempts to calm him and started shouting demands such as, \u201cGive me a f**ing glass for my drink.\u201d*<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The passenger seated next to him said Jones became increasingly agitated, frequently standing up to use the toilet and swearing loudly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When asked to stop, Jones\u2019s behavior escalated further. At one point, after his pillow brushed against his neighbor\u2019s foot, he shouted, \u201cIf you do that again, I\u2019ll put that in your f**ing face.\u201d* The frightened passenger then requested a seat change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to The Mirror<\/a>, the captain ordered that Jones should no longer be served alcohol after he continued pacing the aisle and gritting his teeth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ignoring multiple warnings, Jones sat in the door area connected to the emergency slide and argued with the cabin crew. When he refused to comply, the captain authorized restraint, and crew members used handcuffs to secure him to his seat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even after being restrained, Jones continued shouting and threatened a crew member, saying, \u201cOi, blonde boy, loosen them cuffs or I\u2019ll wrap them around your neck.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He had to be checked every 15 minutes until landing, which significantly affected crew duties, including regular passenger service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Court Hearing and Sentencing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In court, defense lawyer Gurbinder Tamana explained that Jones suffered from bipolar disorder and was not taking his prescribed medication at the time. He had consumed one alcoholic drink before the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ms. Tamana said he was experiencing personal difficulties, had since started new medication, and was now employed at a bar. She described his behavior as \u201ccompletely out of character.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
