CHICAGO-<\/strong> A viral video of a traveler flying United Airlines (UA)<\/a> first class with his elderly dog has divided opinions online. The clip, filmed, shows the passenger cradling his 19-year-old dog, Piper, instead of keeping him in a pet carrier as required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The video, shared by a self-described dog content creator, has been viewed millions of times and sparked a debate about whether airlines should be more flexible with senior or special-needs pets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

United First Class Passenger’s Dog Hack<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In the now-viral Instagram video, the traveler is seen comfortably seated in United Airlines’ first class with Piper on his lap. During drink service, he orders a Diet Coke for himself and water for his dog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The flight attendant politely reminds him that airline policy requires all pets to remain in their carriers throughout the flight. He asks, \u201cThe whole time?\u201d to which she replies, \u201cThe whole time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The traveler explains that Piper, who is blind and deaf, dislikes being confined to a carrier. He jokingly warns, \u201cThis is going to get ugly,\u201d before the video transitions to what he calls a \u201csecond flight.\u201d Here, Piper is shown strapped to his owner\u2019s chest in a soft sling-style carrier, his head tucked under a baseball cap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
