This update is AA\u2019s broader effort to streamline operations and reduce delays while boarding. While the size of carry-on bags will no longer be routinely checked at the gate, passengers are reminded to follow existing baggage size rules to avoid disruptions during boarding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

American Airlines Baggage Rule Changes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

According to a company statement shared with KTLA that was quoted in The Independent<\/a>, American Airlines team members will continue monitoring baggage at both the lobby and gate areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oversized items that exceed cabin limits will still need to be checked before departure. The decision to remove bag sizers is expected to quicken boarding times and reduce gate congestion, a common issue during peak travel hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under current policy, passengers may carry one personal item and one standard carry-on bag. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The personal item must fit beneath the seat in front and should not exceed 18 x 14 x 8 inches, while the carry-on bag, including handles and wheels, must remain within 22 x 14 x 9 inches. The luggage must fit either under the seat or in the overhead compartment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
