DUBAI, UAE\u2013<\/strong> Dubai Airports has unveiled the next phase of its accessibility strategy, outlining a decade-long vision to make Dubai International Airport (DXB)<\/a> and Dubai World Central \u2013 Al Maktoum International (DWC) the most accessible airports in the world by 2035.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The plan prioritizes guest experience enhancement, accessibility innovation, and the integration of People of Determination (PoD) into every aspect of airport design and service. Dubai Airports\u2019 strategy draws on international best practices. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the home base of Emirates (EK)<\/a> and flydubai (FZ)<\/a>, Dubai International Airport has long been at the forefront of global aviation innovation, setting benchmarks in passenger<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Majed Al Joker, Chief Operating Officer of Dubai Airports, accessibility is now a central pillar of DXB\u2019s operational philosophy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said the airport is working closely with partners and, for the first time, directly with the PoD community to reshape the airport journey and establish new global standards in inclusive travel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 10-year roadmap focuses on improving physical infrastructure, digital services, and training for frontline staff to better assist guests with visible and hidden disabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Al Joker emphasized that the commitment goes beyond compliance. It represents a mindset shift across Dubai\u2019s aviation ecosystem, ensuring that inclusion is integrated into daily operations and long-term planning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inclusive Campaign Showcases Real Stories<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The new strategy is accompanied by a public awareness initiative titled \u201cDXB for All.\u201d The campaign, co-created with People of Determination, shares six authentic stories from travelers navigating DXB. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

These include experiences of children with sensory sensitivities, deaf guests communicating with staff using sign language, and visually impaired travelers guided through tactile systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Building upon the earlier campaign \u201cWe All Meet the World Differently\u201d (WAMTWD), first launched in 2022, this effort highlights that accessibility is as much about empathy and understanding as it is about infrastructure. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The storytelling approach aims to inspire travelers and employees to recognize diverse needs and adopt a more inclusive outlook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Collaboration Across oneDXB Partners<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The initiative is supported by the airport\u2019s oneDXB community, which includes Emirates (EK), flydubai (FZ), Dubai Police, the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs (GDIFA), Dubai Customs, dnata, Dubai Health, and Dubai Duty Free, among others. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Together, these partners are working to create a fully accessible airport experience from arrival to boarding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dubai Airports\u2019 accessibility services already include a Travel Planner \u2013 an online visual guide that helps passengers prepare for their journey \u2013 and the Sunflower Lanyard, which discreetly identifies guests who may require additional support. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other offerings include wheelchair services, hearing loops across more than 520 touchpoints, sensory-friendly lounges, priority lanes, and dedicated taxis for People of Determination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By engaging advocates such as Emirati accessibility pioneer Fatma Al Jassim, consultant and former Paralympic swimmer Jessica Smith, and autism advocates like Yasmin Carey and her son Ellis, DXB and DWC are shaping a culture of empathy-driven design and service excellence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
