LOS ANGELES-<\/strong> An Air New Zealand (NZ)<\/a> flight from Los Angeles (LAX) to Auckland (AKL) was forced to return shortly after takeoff due to a technical issue on October 5, 2025. The Boeing 777 aircraft, operating flight NZ3, experienced problems affecting both the air conditioning and in-flight entertainment systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The flight NZ3 was operated by Boeing 777-300ER<\/a>, registered as ZK-OKS. Further, it is an 11.1-year-old aircraft and is powered by two GE90 engines, one of the most powerful engines in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chief Operating Officer Alex Marren confirmed that engineers were consulted during the flight to troubleshoot the malfunction, but the issue could not be resolved in the air. As a result, the pilots made the decision to return to Los Angeles. According to RNZ, the aircraft landed safely, and passengers were provided assistance upon arrival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
