DUBAI\u2013<\/strong> flydubai (FZ)<\/a> has launched direct flights from Dubai International Airport (DXB) to Ia\u0219i International Airport (IAS), becoming the first carrier from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to operate this route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the new twice-weekly service to Ia\u0219i (IAS), flydubai expands its network in Romania to two destinations, joining its well-established operations in Bucharest (OTP). The airline is also increasing frequencies on the Bucharest route to a triple-daily service, bringing total weekly flights between the UAE and Romania to 21.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

flyDubai New Flight to Lasi<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The inaugural flight to Ia\u0219i (IAS) received a traditional water cannon salute and an official welcome from airport authorities, government representatives, and media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This milestone strengthens connectivity between Romania\u2019s cultural capital and Dubai (DXB), a major global hub.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Jeyhun Efendi, Divisional Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations and E-commerce at flydubai, Romania has been a growing market since the airline began serving Bucharest in 2012.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Passenger numbers have increased by an average of 16% annually, supporting the decision to boost frequencies and add a new destination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Efendi noted that opening Ia\u0219i to direct air service provides travelers with more convenient access to Romania\u2019s business and cultural landscape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Airport and Regional Significance<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Romeo Vatr\u0103, General Manager of Ia\u0219i International Airport (IAS), emphasized the importance of this launch, highlighting that Ia\u0219i is now the only airport in the Moldova region with direct flights to the UAE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He welcomed the partnership with flydubai, noting the route would benefit both passengers and the regional economy by positioning Ia\u0219i as an international gateway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Destination Highlights<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Ia\u0219i is known as Romania\u2019s cultural capital, offering attractions such as the Palace of Culture, which houses multiple museums, the Italian-Renaissance style Metropolitan Cathedral, and the Vasile Alecsandri National Theatre, Romania\u2019s oldest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new flights provide easier access for tourists and business travelers to explore these landmarks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Broader European Network Growth<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The Ia\u0219i service is part of flydubai\u2019s wider European expansion. On 17 September, the airline began flights to Chi\u0219in\u0103u in Moldova (KIV).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By December, Vilnius (VNO) in Lithuania and Riga (RIX) in Latvia will also join the network, further strengthening flydubai\u2019s presence in Eastern and Northern Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Flight Schedule and Fares<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Flights between Dubai International Airport (DXB) Terminal 2 and Ia\u0219i International Airport (IAS) operate twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
