The tug driver pushed the aircraft too far, causing the left-hand wingtip to smash into the terminal building and break several Applebee\u2019s restaurant windows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The damage wrecked the wingtip and immediately grounded the jet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.paddleyourownkanoo.com\/2025\/09\/12\/brand-new-jetblue-airbus-a220-grounded-after-wing-collides-with-windows-of-applebees-at-airport\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">PYOK<\/a>, the A220 had been delivered from Airbus\u2019s Canadian factory just four months ago, making the incident a setback for JetBlue\u2019s new fleet program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Passengers were safely deplaned, and JetBlue sourced a spare aircraft to operate the route. On September 1, two <a href=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/index.php\/tag\/united-airlines\/\">United Airlines (UA)<\/a> Boeing 737s made contact at San Francisco International Airport (SFO) during pushback.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The tail of one <a href=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/index.php\/tag\/united-boeing-737\/\">Boeing 737<\/a> struck the tail of another parked jet while passengers were actively boarding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Passengers described feeling the plane shake before being deplaned.
