LONDON-<\/strong> A British Airways (BA)<\/a> flight bound for Hyderabad (HYD) was forced to return to its departure point after a technical issue was detected mid-air.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Boeing 777, operating as flight BA277, had taken off from London Heathrow (LHR) in the early hours of September 10, 2025, but turned back shortly after departure. The aircraft was originally scheduled to land at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (HYD) the following morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Flight BA277 departed Heathrow at 3:10 a.m. local time on Wednesday. According to the schedule, the aircraft was expected to touch down in Hyderabad<\/a> at 5:20 a.m. local time on Thursday, September 11.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The flight, however, faced an unexpected technical issue after take-off, prompting the crew to initiate a return to London.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before landing, the Boeing 777<\/a> was observed circling over designated airspace to safely burn off excess fuel, a standard procedure before an unscheduled landing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Flight tracking site AirNav Radar recorded the flight\u2019s diversion pattern, which showed the aircraft holding over UK airspace for an extended period before making its descent into Heathrow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

British Airways has not provided specific details about the fault but confirmed the aircraft returned safely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Passengers were accommodated following the incident, and the airline said it was working to arrange alternative travel to Hyderabad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aircraft involved in the incident is a Boeing 777-236, registered as G-YMME<\/a>. Further, it is a 25.4-year-old aircraft powered by two Rolls-Royce (RR) Trent 800 engines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

British Airways has multiple variants of 777-200, but this aircraft features a 3-class configuration with 32 flat-bed Business Class seats, 48 Premium Economy seats, and 252 standard Economy Class seats. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
