LONDON\u2014<\/strong> Wizz Air UK (W9)<\/a> will withdraw all flights from the Austrian capital, ending services from both London Gatwick (LGW) and London Luton (LTN).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline confirmed that flights from London Gatwick and Bilbao (BIO) to Vienna will stop from October 26, 2025, while its final route from London Luton will cease on March 15, 2026. This decision directly impacts travelers planning trips to Austria\u2019s capital, especially during its peak winter season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wizz Air UK Suspends Vienna Flights<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Wizz Air launched its Vienna base in 2018, expanding routes across Europe. However, rising costs at Vienna International Airport (VIE)<\/a> have made operations unsustainable. The airline cited increases in airport fees, taxes, and ground handling services as key reasons for the withdrawal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mauro Peneda, Managing Director of Wizz Air Malta, explained that while the decision was difficult, it was necessary to safeguard the airline\u2019s long-term competitiveness. Staff at the Vienna base will be offered opportunities elsewhere in Wizz Air\u2019s network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline currently operates two daily flights from London Gatwick to Vienna, reduced to one during winter. These routes will gradually wind down before the complete exit in 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What Happens if Your Flight is Cancelled<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Passengers booked to Vienna (VIE) before October 26, 2025, will not be affected. Those scheduled to travel after this date will receive direct communication from the airline via the Wizz Air app or email.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Affected customers will be offered two options:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
