First flown in 1952, it entered service in 1955. Originally designed to deliver nuclear weapons during the Cold War, it has since dropped conventional bombs in conflicts from Vietnam to the Middle East.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The B-52 is expected to remain in service until 2060.
