SYDNEY-<\/strong> Qantas (QF)<\/a> has resumed its Airbus A380 flights from Sydney (SYD) to Dallas\/Fort Worth (DFW) after a gap of more than 5 years. The Texas airport once again sees A380 service, filling the void left by British Airways (BA)<\/a>, which ceased its superjumbo operations there in March 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This reinstated route marks the return of one of the world\u2019s longest nonstop A380 flights, connecting two major oneworld hubs and strengthening Qantas\u2019 transpacific network through its close partnership with American Airlines (AA)<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Qantas Resumes Sydney to Dallas Flight<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Qantas first introduced the A380<\/a> on the Sydney to Dallas route in September 2014, replacing its Boeing 747-400 fleet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The service continued until April 2020, when operations paused during the pandemic. Now, the carrier operates four weekly A380 flights, with the Boeing 787-9 covering the remaining three days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From January 2026, the route will transition to a full seven-day A380 schedule, matching peak summer travel in Australia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The A380 deployed to Dallas features 485 seats, divided into 14 first-class suites, 70 business class seats, 60 premium economy seats, and 341 economy seats. On August 11, the 14.4-year-old VH-OQK operated the service, according to Flightradar24 data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ch-aviation reports that Qantas currently has ten A380s in its fleet, though not all are active. Reported by Simple Flying<\/a>, this aircraft was the 63rd A380 ever built and is Qantas\u2019 second youngest example.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Second Longest Nonstop A380 Route<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Covering 7,474 nautical miles (13,805 km) each way, Sydney<\/a>\u2013Dallas<\/a> is Qantas\u2019 longest nonstop A380 flight and the second longest worldwide for the aircraft type.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The block time can reach up to 17 hours and 15 minutes, just 10 minutes shorter than Emirates\u2019 Dubai\u2013Auckland service, the current record holder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
