The aircraft dumped fuel and safely landed on Newark’s runway 22R at 23:37.

As reported by Simple Flying, passengers aboard the flight noticed vibrations about 30 minutes into the journey.

The captain informed them that a portion of the wing was missing, though it was later clarified that this referred to a spoiler panel issue. The aircraft safely returned to Newark, where it was grounded for inspection. Although not directly related to the spoiler malfunction, the back-to-back issues raise concerns about recurring system alerts.

In another incident involves a United Boeing 787-8 registered N27901 was on flight UA108 from Washington Dulles (IAD) to Munich (MUC). Shortly after takeoff on July 31, the aircraft suffered a left engine failure while climbing through 5,000 feet.

The crew declared a mayday, dumped fuel, and returned safely to IAD. All 219 passengers and 11 crew disembarked without incident.
