GURUGRAM-<\/strong> IndiGo (6E)<\/a> has begun construction of a new large-scale Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility at Kempegowda International Airport (BLR), Bengaluru.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project aims to boost the airline\u2019s operational capabilities and deepen its presence in one of the busiest hubs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This strategic expansion is part of IndiGo\u2019s long-term vision to build a robust aviation ecosystem in India, while also supporting job creation and industry growth. The MRO is expected to be fully operational by 2028.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IndiGo New MRO Facility<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Indigo Airlines’ new MRO facility<\/a> at Bengaluru Airport will span 31 acres and is designed to accommodate up to 12 bays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It will service both narrow-body and wide-body aircraft, significantly improving IndiGo\u2019s technical infrastructure. This move aligns with the airline\u2019s operational strategy to enhance fleet availability, reduce maintenance turnaround time, and improve cost efficiency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, IndiGo operates MRO facilities in Delhi and Nagpur. However, the upcoming Bengaluru facility is projected to be three times larger than the combined capacity of the existing units.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project not only aims to improve operational efficiency but also contributes to the regional economy. The facility is expected to generate employment for over 1,000 professionals, including engineers and technicians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Operational Advantages for IndiGo<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Bengaluru is one of IndiGo\u2019s largest operational bases, with more than 200 daily flights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new MRO facility will allow IndiGo to streamline its maintenance processes within a high-traffic zone, ensuring quicker aircraft turnaround and enhanced reliability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
