SINGAPORE-<\/strong> Singapore Airlines (SQ)<\/a> is preparing for the arrival of the long-delayed Boeing 777X, as the aircraft recently resumed test flights from Boeing\u2019s Everett facility near Seattle for the first time in nearly five years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The renewed activity marks a major milestone in the 777X\u2019s certification journey, with the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)<\/a> authorizing Boeing to advance to the next testing phase, signaling potential entry into service by mid-2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Singapore Airlines First Boeing 777X<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Boeing 777X<\/a>, comprising the 777-8 and 777-9 variants, is the next-generation successor to the 777 family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Designed to offer greater fuel efficiency, extended range, and increased passenger capacity, the 777X has amassed over 500 orders since its launch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With major airlines such as Emirates (EK)<\/a>, Qatar Airways (QR)<\/a>, and Singapore Airlines (SQ) relying on the aircraft for fleet renewal, the model is viewed as critical for long-haul operations over the next two decades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Initially intended to enter service in 2020, the 777X program has faced a six-year delay due to a mix of development issues, engine reliability concerns, regulatory scrutiny, and pandemic-related disruptions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
