Tokyo<\/strong> \u2014<\/strong>Japan Airlines (JL)<\/a> is progressively deploying the Airbus A350-1000 on critical long-haul routes as part of its strategic fleet modernisation. Japan Airlines is replacing its older Boeing 777-300ERs with modern aircraft to improve fuel efficiency and enhance the passenger experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At present, the A350-1000 flies on routes that connect Tokyo Haneda (HND) to five main international hubs: New York (JFK), Los Angeles (LAX), Dallas (DFW), London (LHR), and Paris (CDG), OMAAT<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Japan Airlines Adds 10th A350-1000<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Japan Airlines’ Airbus A350-1000<\/a> fleet will replace the existing Boeing 777-300ER<\/a>. JL, a member of the Oneworld alliance, is set to reap the rewards of this newer and more fuel-efficient aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As of 21 July 2025, the carrier has purchased 13 of these aircraft, with 10 of them having been delivered. The fleet’s inaugural A350-1000, registered JA01WJ, was introduced on 14 December 2023, and the most recent aircraft, JA10WJ, was delivered on 17 July 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Japan Airlines deploys the A350-1000s exclusively on its long-haul international routes, while restricting the A350-900s to purely domestic operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Japan Airlines expects to complete all A350-1000 deliveries by 2028, aligning them with the planned retirement of its 777-300ERs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rate of deliveries was initially swift, with 10 planes joining the fleet in under 19 months. However, the schedule is expected to slow down, with now only one A350-1000 expected by 31 March 2026, the conclusion of Japan’s 2025 fiscal year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

JAL A350-1000 Flights to America<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Japan Airlines currently operates its Airbus A350-1000 on five main international routes departing from Tokyo Haneda (HND), with a total of up to six daily flights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

JAL operates twice-daily flights to New York (JFK)<\/a> using its A350-1000s. JAL flight JL6 departs Tokyo at 11:05 AM and arrives in New York at 10:50 AM. The return flight, JL5, departs from JFK at 1:45 PM and arrives in Tokyo at 5:15 PM the following day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

JAL flight JL4 departs HND at 6:30 PM and arrives at JFK at 6:30 PM, while JL3 returns from JFK at 1:40 AM and arrives in Tokyo at 4:45 AM the following day. This is the second daily flight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Japan Airlines operates a single daily A350-1000 flight between Tokyo and Los Angeles (LAX). JAL flight JL16 departs from HND at 5:00 PM and arrives at LAX at 11:00 AM. The return flight, JL15, departs Los Angeles at 1:30 PM and arrives in Tokyo at 5:25 PM the following day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, the A350-1000 operates daily flights between Tokyo and Dallas (DFW). JAL flight JL12 departs Tokyo at 10:55 AM and arrives in Dallas at 8:40 AM. The return flight, JL11, departs DFW at 11:05 AM and arrives in Tokyo at 2:40 PM the following day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

JAL A350-1000 Flights to Europe<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Japan Airlines employs the A350-1000 on one of its two Tokyo\u2013London services once daily, with London (LHR) being the destination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

JAL flight JL43 departs from HND at 9:50 AM and arrives at London Heathrow at 3:15 PM. The return flight, JL44, departs from LHR at 6:30 PM and arrives in Tokyo at 5:20 PM the following day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, the A350-1000 operates on an alternate day between Tokyo and Paris (CDG). JAL flight JL45 departs Tokyo at 10:20 AM and arrives in Paris at 5:55 PM. The return flight, JL46, departs CDG at 8:25 PM and arrives in Tokyo at 5:20 PM the following day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Japan Airlines will increase the frequency of this service to daily from 27 July to 30 September 2025. The service will again return to alternating days starting 1 October 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
