ABU DHABI\u2013<\/strong> Etihad Airways (EY)<\/a> reaches a historic milestone by welcoming over 20 million passengers and a fleet of over 100 aircraft, a first since beginning operations in November 2003.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Operating from Zayed International Airport (AUH), the UAE\u2019s national airline has doubled its passenger numbers in just two and a half years, reflecting strong global demand, an expanding route network, and record-breaking performance in the last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Etihad Airways Rapid Growth<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Etihad Airways\u2019 upward trajectory continues at an unprecedented pace. Under the leadership of CEO Antonoaldo Neves, the airline posted a record AED 685 million profit in Q1 2025 and recorded its highest-ever customer satisfaction rating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Abu Dhabi-based flag carrier flew over 20 million guests in the past 12 months, a new record for Etihad. The airline witnessed passenger numbers double from 10 million to 20 million in less than three years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Neves highlighted Etihad’s rapid growth, which the CEO pointed out remains unmatched in the region. By the end of 2025, Etihad Airways is on track to operate nearly 90 destinations, with 27 new routes added in the same year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Abu Dhabi’s strategic goals to boost tourism, economic development, and connectivity between Europe and Asia closely align with this growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Etihad Airways 100 Aircraft Fleet<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Abu Dhabi-based carrier Etihad Airways now operates over 100 aircraft, including a brand-new Boeing 787-9<\/a> that was flown in from the U.S. by an all-Emirati crew, and the first of three new Airbus A350-1000s delivered on 18 July 2025. Furthermore, the carrier recently reintroduced its seventh Airbus A380.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Etihad’s young fleet positions it amongst the most modern in the world, where efficiency, performance, and state-of-the-art luxury remain top priorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline expects to receive 18 new aircraft this year, including the all-new Airbus A321LR<\/a> set to enter service on 1 August 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These next-generation aircraft will introduce First Suites, a lie-flat Business Class, ultra-high-definition 4K screens, and high-speed Wi-Fi across all cabins for superior comfort and in-flight connectivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier this year, Etihad Airways also placed a significant order for 28 wide-body Boeing aircraft, reinforcing its commitment to operational efficiency and customer experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To commemorate crossing the 20-million passenger milestone, Etihad surprised a couple travelling from New Delhi (DEL) to Toronto (YYZ) with a luxurious series of upgrades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr and Mrs Chopra began their journey with a lie-flat Business Class experience on the A350<\/a> to Abu Dhabi, before being upgraded to Etihad Guest\u2019s Gold tier at the First Lounge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The memorable experience concluded with a flight onboard Etihad’s A380<\/a> to Toronto (YYZ), where the couple flew in the airline’s signature three-room suite called The Residence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
