College football, particularly for programs like Notre Dame, draws large traveling fan bases. United’s scheduling team has clearly identified these patterns and responded with targeted capacity increases.

United’s new fall schedule includes over 24 new nonstop flights tailored for Notre Dame football fans. The flights will be covering both home games at Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend, Indiana, and select away games.

These are spread across September, October, and November. Among the most notable ones are the flights from Los Angeles and Newark.

A nonstop flight between Los Angeles and South Bend for the October showdown between Notre Dame and USC. Another direct flight from Newark to South Bend for the same game. This shows the airline’s attention to high-demand events.

These flights will primarily depart from cities with large Notre Dame fan bases. This includes Los Angeles, Newark, Washington, D.C., Denver, and Chicago, among others. While some routes are entirely new, other routes with flights already operating will see bigger aircraft. The airline is also optimizing departure times to better suit game schedules.

Photo: Clément Alloing

United’s Flight Boost Amid Strong Q1

The new flights are timed to match major home and away games on Notre Dame’s schedule, helping fans reach South Bend or other key venues more seamlessly. United is adding flights this fall to match the schedule of key Notre Dame football games, giving fans a way to travel more directly to home and away matchups.

These flights aren’t permanent additions to the schedule. The flights are limited and focused around specific weekends, mainly when demand is expected to be highest. The airline is focusing on short periods when more people are likely to travel

For Notre Dame fans, the new flights will offer more direct options to get to games. For United, it’s a calculated move to fill seats during a period of slower general travel demand.

Stay tuned with us.
