FRANKFURT\u2014<\/strong> A Swiss International Air Lines (LX)<\/a> flight from Belgrade (BEG) to Zurich (ZRH) made an emergency landing at Friedrichshafen Airport (FDH) on Monday (July 7, 2025) after cockpit error messages and light smoke were reported on board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Airbus A220-300<\/strong> landed safely around 11 a.m. with 115 passengers and four crew<\/strong> on board. All were safely evacuated without injuries, and emergency services were deployed as a precaution, Bild<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Swiss A220 Emergency Landing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

According to Swiss International Air Lines, the flight crew received multiple error messages mid-flight along with reports of light smoke visible in the rear section of the cabin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following standard protocol, the crew diverted to the nearest suitable airport, Friedrichshafen (FDH)<\/strong>, located in southern Germany near Lake Constance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Upon landing, the aircraft was evacuated via standard stairs rather than emergency slides, as there was no immediate fire threat. No injuries were reported, and local police confirmed all passengers exited the plane safely<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Firefighters, medics, and police<\/strong> quickly arrived at the scene. Although the situation remained under control, their presence ensured all safety procedures were followed. The exact source of the cockpit alerts and smoke is currently under investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A technical team from Swiss International (LX)<\/strong> has been dispatched to Friedrichshafen to examine the aircraft and support passengers and crew. The airline has stated that all necessary assistance is being provided on-site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The incident led to traffic restrictions around Friedrichshafen Airport as emergency vehicles occupied nearby access roads. Local police advised motorists to avoid the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delta Flight DL43, operated by an Airbus A350-900, had 162 passengers and 15 crew members on board when the incident occurred on the night of February 22, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Flight DL43 departed Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) at 9:04 p.m. local time, bound for Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport (SYD).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aircraft, registered N514DN, was climbing over the Pacific Ocean when the cabin crew reported visible smoke in the rear galley. The pilots immediately halted the climb at 10,000 feet (3,000 meters) to assess the situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After confirming the report, the flight crew executed a precautionary turnback, heading east and re-entering the California coastline near Long Beach. The A350-900 made a controlled left-hand approach and landed safely on Runway 25R at LAX at 9:32 p.m.\u2014only 28 minutes after departure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Upon landing, the smoke was no longer visible, and cockpit instruments did not show any active fire alerts. Nonetheless, Delta’s flight crew requested emergency services to meet the aircraft on the ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fire units escorted the jet to the gate, and medical personnel were on standby in case of passenger smoke exposure, though no injuries were reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delta subsequently canceled the Sydney-bound flight. All 162 passengers were rebooked on alternative flights to minimize travel disruption. The airline reiterated its commitment to safety in a statement issued after the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
